Normally I don't bother with waterproof specific shorts but I'm done with being wet through ten minutes into a ride.

What do you recommend?

Cheapest I've seen are the MADISON Tempest Waterproof Shorts, any good?

I've got Tempest shorts (not the 3/4) they work well at keeping your arse a bit dryer.

Just ordered some Madison Tempest 3/4s from Tredz and hoping they will work. Had some Endura ones but I got a large hole in my crotch and recently chucked them. Wore some water resistant Chrome's but not impressed in rain. They dried quickly but the lycra shorts underneath remained wet all day.

Got some Vaude Spray 3/4. they come up quite slim - had to buy XL when usually M, but that means they are plenty long enough to keep knee pads covered & dry(er)/clean.

minimal features mean they pack down small if you wanted to stow them away like you do with a jacket and wear over normal shorts when needed, which i'm planning to do in order to increase their lifespan.

Altura attack 3/4's aren't as waterproof as the Endura one's (forget the name) IME.
I have the attack jacket which is very robust but the shorts are made of a thinner, less waterproof fabric, showerproof at best.

Altura Attack 3/4's. Had them for two seasons now. Never bothered washing them - I just wipe them down with the kitchen cloth when the wife isn't looking. They feel quite flimsy and the popper button above the fly bothers me - I'm always worried it'll come undone. However, it never has and I've not ripped them (despite lots of SPD related crashes). Been out in the pouring rain and round the swamp of Brandon High Lodge track and not once got wet. Would recommend.
