i'm off to dartmoor on saturday, never been before. can any kind souls recommend me a nice 4 hour loop somewhere please, probably near princetown? will there be sheep poo and mud?
How long you in for?
They let you out to cycle too? - the justice system is getting very liberal these days
The standard Prince town loop will be suggested by a local, sorry i can't explain or offer a route map.
There will be gritty and stony trails, water bars and possible standing water if it tiddles it down over the next day or two mud on that loop will be limited to Ground hog day and that will be almost none. Sheep poo not at all likely apart from on the roads.

The track from Princetown out towards Nun's Cross has been pretty muddy recently during wet weather (at least as far as North Hessary Tor, if not a bit further). It's been "improved" by dumping loads of sandy/dusty stuff on it which just turns to sludge if it's wet. It's only bad for a couple of miles though. Been pretty dry here (I'm in Princetown) recently so it should be fine at the mo.
Apart from that most of the stuff around here tends to be gravelly/stoney and well-drained, as somebody already said.
