the rough track going up to the summit tunnels and above Reddyshore scout has been tarmaced i noticed today for quite sum distance, along with lots of red stickers on a couple of wide gates on that route and lots of red stickers on the fences... just seems abit wierd after years of being a rough tack that is now tarmaced ? was it like this for the mary townley loop riders afew weeks back or is the tarmac more recent job...
wonder what it will be like in icy weather ? ruddy polished !!! it was a good challenge that stretch being all rough n ready (now its too easy (lol)

Is that after the vertical climb? Like from the main road, traffic lights etc. ?

I think it was done when the lights were put. Think its just that stretch of the trail, it was done for the horse access with the crossing etc.

There was work going on on one of the tunnel vents the other day, I think? Perhaps it was an access road for them? Though not sure why they tarmac'd it?

If its where i think it is? The road has been tarmaced to give access to the houses and farms up there because the normal access road (allescholes road) is closed for a couple of months due to roadworks

ah thats wot it will be then (access for allescholes rd, yeah its probably that !...tho they have tarmaced along way ! (yeah and at one of the long gates it was terribly boggy most of the time, so vehicles would sink i guess.... apparently lots of rubble was thrown down allescholes rd yesterday by the floods....
