If you make it down south then hit up the raven trail at Brechfa. Probably the best trail centre trail I've ever ridden.

Brechfas ok, though really no better than any of the others. Coed y brenin, nant y Arian etc are all good so choose the one(s) which you are going to be able to fit in with minimal travelling.

3 or 4 days for North and South?

If coming up North for Snowdon (don't forget the daytime ban so it's either an early start/late departure) I'd also want to do Penmachno, Coed Y Brenin and Cader Idris. Don't forget the new Blaenau Ffestiniog DH/freeride trails should be open too (only a few miles from Penmachno and on the way to Coed Y Brenin/Cader Idris). I would give Llandegla a miss, but that's me – plenty of other people love it. All the above assumes you don't fancy getting the maps out. If so, there's plenty more!

Have a look at Bike Brechfa's website

You have the trail centres there plus natural ride options in Doethie Valley and Brecon Beacons, STW did a feature big loop. Bike Brechfa can guide you if required.

S. Wales- glyn corrwg, next to afon has good camping with whites level, w2 & skyline to ride.
Cwmcarn has good camping & you can hire pods instead of a tent. Good xc & dh track & an up lift service.
Smilog woods in llantrisant and mountain ash have some good unmarked dh.
Forest of dean is always worth a visit, fun xc loop, loads of marked & un marked dh & an uplift service

N. Wales I've only had 3 days there rode llandegla, coed y brenin & mychnthleth and enjoyed them all.

This is a great campsite, right on the doorstep of Coed-y-Brenin: Cae Gywn Farm.

Makes a good base for CyB, Penmachno, Antur Stiniog, Cadair Idris etc, then you can go south via Machynlleth, Nant yr Arian, Brechfa, Afan and so on... You'll have to be selective, there is too much to ride in 3-4 days.

I did a similar trip a few years ago, but the other way around. We did a whole day at Afan, Nant-yr-Arian the next, on the way to Cae Gywn Farm, whole day at CyB the next day, Penmachno then home on the fourth day.

If you do brechfa the red is so much better than the black.

I don't rate penmachno. I bypass it for the Marin trail or coed y brenin. I find it too much up hill for not much fun.

im starting to see that south and north is to much for the time we have ive done afan so should i focus on north wales for this trip maybe ?
or do i spend less time traveling (from cornwall) and make it south wales

I agree that there's loads of choice, I'd go to Machynlleth first, there's loads of riding both natural, Cadir Idris, and the Climachx trails. On the way back do some of the Brecons, it is IMHO unmissable, down to Brechfa, and if you have time Afan from Glyncorrwg.

MB wales have all the info.

Holey Trailwill sort you camping or a bunkhouse in Mach.

Enjoy, I'm a little jealous, I haven't managed to get to Wales this year, yet

For 3-4 days I think I'd pick south OR north as it's 3-4 hour drive between them. There's plenty at both areas to fill that time

The climachx trail is currently a mess due to harvesting. I wouldn't bother. The best part of the trail was destroyed by excavating and logging machines when I went a month ago.
