A group of us are looking to do the WC2C (Welsh Coast to Coast) and have been trying to find the official route that is used from Caernarfon to Cardiff. Have tried via Dave Buchanan but no joy.....does anybody know where a copy of the route or gpx files can be obtained from ??

Do you mean the sarn helen trail?

I plotted it a couple of years ago, never got round to actually riding it though, although thinking about it, my route goes from Colwyn bay to swansea.

I've not got the most up to date version of Dave's. I didn't realise until the day I actually rode it though!

Bear in mind, there's more than one WC2C route out there. Eg, Ian's route in the Bearbones link above isn't the same as Dave's "Hobbit" route.

There's the Sarn Helen [as above] one too

http://www.mbruk.co.uk/mbruk_SarnHelenTrail_details.htm

I have that as a Anquet file if required

and this one. http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/mtbike/2012/06/new-welsh-coast-to-coast/

A tougher ride but with some superb natural trails & 7 trail centres en route.

There's Route 8 "Lon Las Cymru" which goes from Cardiff to Holyhead as well.

I rode it in the other direction this year, here's Day 1 http://www.justgoride.co.uk/Content/Routes/Viewer.aspx?id=1299
and you'll find my other days on that site if you search for "Lon Las". Our route was based on the Lonely Planet guide.

I rode Ians' BB route in the 'summer'. I have a modified copy somewhere if you're interested. 4 days if its dry and you're fast, 5-6 if you're more mortal. Great route taking you through some of the more remote parts of Wales

The Sarn Helen doesnt exist on the ground so i'd stay away from attempting that, unless you like wading through boggs.

I believe Daves route is based on the fastest way. The section between Brecon and Cardiff is down the Taff trail. Fast but not interesting.
