Looking at a VW Passat, and was wondering how good they are for carrying bikes. It the saloon so concerned there is not enough clearence at height wise in the book to get 2 bikes in. Does anyone have experience of carrying bikes in this car. It is a 2009 model and has the 60/40 rear seats.
Hi, i had an 09 Passat on loan for 3 months recently and it was the same as most saloons; you can get bikes in but you have to lie them flat and if you want two in then on top of each other. I've now got a Mondeo and to be honest the Passat isn't a patch on it.
thanks gizzardman.
what did you find wrong with the Passat. Due to test drive on Thursday night. I looked at the mondeo but seemed more expensive fort eh Spec you are getting compared to the Passat. Had both VW and Ford before and know both are excellent brands and engineering is second to none.
It is a 2.0Tdi Highline (140bhp version)
I found the Passat to be very noisy which was really noticeable on long rides. The driving position in the Mondeo felt much, much more comfortable too. I'm surprised to find the Mondeo to be more expensive than the Passat? Have you driven the Mondeo at all? If not go try one soon. IMO They are a much better car, inside, outside.
P.S The Passat that i had was a diesel DSG, 140BHP (or similar) but i now have the 2.0 litre diesel Mondeo.
