Looking for a new bike recommendations for max £500. It's for a friend that's too far away to help to find a 2nd hand bargain. So new would probably be better. So far I'm looking at one of the Vitus Nucleus, Calibre Rake 27 or a Voodoo of some kind. He has a Go Outdoors reasonably close but the discount on the Vitus is tempting. If he can find an old Halfords bike they are offering 25% off with a trade in. Any reason not to get the Vitus?

Absolutely none there a great bike and whilst ht can beat you up a bit the vitus nucleas and sentier actually have a pleasantly comfortable ride .

We have x2 nucleas and x1 sentier in the family fleet and there fantastic

Can't speak of the adult ones but I bought my daughter the Nucleus 26 and its a really nice looking bike, arrived well prepped with little left to assemble. You also get a decent multi tool and pedal spanner and the included plastic pedals aren't awful.

Just reading the September MBR today and they had a £600/700 bike of the year test featuring the Carrera Fury, Jamis Highpoint, Polygon Xtrada 5 and Vitus Nucleus VR. Polygon came out on top, Vitus = 3rd.

Looks like the better spec Xtrada 6 can be had for £550 if you can find one in store?
