CRC have this in their sale.

Looks like a decent price for the spec, after deduction of the BC discount.  And I like the grey 🙂

The 29er version is getting good reviews but not much said about the 27.5 version. Anyone had any experience of it?

I've got the VR 27.5 version - have a look at the reviews on that on CRC - and it's a cracking bike. Identical frame to the VRX, deluxe RT and revelations and then SLX and raceface/Novatec wheels vs the GX eagle/DT swiss on the VRX. Incidentally that's also on sale at the moment, £1500 after discounts which is brilliant value.

You'll struggle to match the spec with the extra 10% BC discount, the Canyon Spectral is £2300 with a similar spec, also a fantastic bike. The frame probably isn't quite as good quality as the Canyon but the spec makes up for that, mine is a little heavy but I rare;y notice it. It's a long bike, does very very well at speed and in my *checks strava* 430 miles on mine nothing has started to creak/rattle/fall off, it just gets the job done well.

I demo'ed one a couple of years ago now and had a blast on it.  Really wanted one but by the time i had the funds to buy one my size was not available. Great bike imo.

Don’t own one but ridden one and liked it a lot. Great value too. If I was really picky I’d lop two inches off the seat tube to allow a bigger dropper, but that’s it. I’d buy one for sure.

Thanks all - order placed.  The VR looks like best value but I can't ignore the pull of that grey finish in the VRX. 🙂

I have the 29er, very good, slightly porky but acceptable, done 850 miles, gxp BB rough but not creaky, main pivot bearings were shot after about 600 but they are a generic size and I have some more to fit once I find my hammer....the chain isn't at 0.75% yet either just as a side note although as they are so cheap I'm going to chuck a new one on to protect the cassette

I've got that same version, liking it so far! I'm not massively observant with regards to geometry etc, but it rides well - for both XC and DH/jumpy stuff.

What about the Sommet CR carbon for under £2k with BC discount....

That's a lot of bike for the money!

This must be the record for a 'which bike' thread, 4 replies between the first post and him ordering the bike 🙂

TBH all of the Vitus bikes are great value and even better when on sale, however 160/170mm travel is probably overkill for most people. It's a shame they don't do a carbon escarpe, the VR in carbon for £2200 or so would be great.
