... not the hookers and cocaine type vices.

Its time to get a vice for the workshop.

What's good and what size do I need for general bike tasks?

Get a big one lots on E bay just choose a local one and collect pay about 30 -50 don't worry if its rusty /dirty ect .It will change your life , no end of things are easier with a vice .i have 3, two wood for inside the house type jobs and a 50 kilo monster out in the wheel shed for big dirty man jobs (thats the wife description )

Got mine for £30 off eBay used by an old metal worker it's huge heavy has quick release mechanism. Try finding something new for that price.

Makes a world of difference from cup and cone hubs to straightening tent pegs.

a mate has one of these (or similar), which I covert somewhat. I has two types of jaws, can rotate and swivel.
