Anyone got an alternate mount for the varia? Had a big saddle bag on at the weekend, so left the Varia at home, really missed it on the road bits.

The radar goes through saddle bags, so you can just put it in there or a jersey pocket pointing the right way.

I've also got a 3d-printed mount I bought from someone on ebay which is pretty decent.

I have two options for when I’m carrying luggage.

Just a saddlebag then I use a spare 1/4 turn Garmin mount from a computer, ditch the rubber spacer and use the two shortest O rings to clip it to the little loop on the back of the bag. I was sceptical too on this but mine has stayed put for months.

If I’m using the rear rack then I’ve just bolted on one of the 1/4 turn mounts from a direct headset topcap mount - they have a countersunk bolt hole that doesn’t interfere with the Garmin unit.

Lastly I also stuck a plastic boss on the back of my Varia for a lanyard - why don’t they come with this from the factory?

On my road bike I use a PRO saddle that has a screw in mount for accessories underneath.  I have a GoPro mount fitted to this, then a short extension arm, then a Varia mount with a GoPro fitting in the back.  This way I can use a saddle bag, and have the Varia firmly mounted behind the saddle.  Works well for me.

Restrap just launched a wee thingy, might work nicely with a band on Garmin mount

There are a few extended saddle mounts to set the Varia behind the saddle pack. I’d miss mine too.

It's this bag I'm using, so seatstay is better I think....
