Hi All

Background:
I've recently got back into riding my MTB. I managed to kill my 1990's rigid frame. While I'd been saving some cash to buy a decent hardtail, my best bud has let me borrow his old 2000's rigid. Whilst this bike is great and much lighter than my old one, I do yearn for front suspension.

Recently another friend has offered his "barely used" bike.

Spec:
BeOne Team Replica 26 Hardtail Bike 2007 - Discontinued, but : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=14966

Changes:
Magura Laurin 2007 - Forks - Discontinued, but : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=16506
Richie bars
Shimano spd pedals
Shimano SPD shoes

Question:
He wants £450 for this, which my gut reaction is that it's too much for a bike of it's age. But I'm not up on the spec of the kit.

Is it a bargain, or am I better saving my dosh and getting something circa £500 at 2011/2012/2013 spec??

Thanks in advance.

sounds way too much for a bike CRC were knocking out for £300-400 and is now 5 years old... bars and pedals dont add value and the forks are nothing special. I'd be pricing at closer to half what he's asking.

www.paulscycles.co.uk specialise in mopping up old stock and you could get a nicer bike than your mates new for that money

2010 GT Avalanche down from £700 to £450

or £490 in 2011 flavour

Thanks CTM ... that was pretty much my thinking. A few folks have recommended the GT's. I'll look at Paul's Cycles.

Cheers!
