We've inherited a Mavix X819 UST rim on one of our Rohloff wheels. I'm trying to put some miles on it running it on the road so want to put on some slicks. However, neither a 1.5 conti City Contact or 1.95 Specialized Hemisphere will seat properly - both end up with a flat spot where the tyre isn't properly on the bead. It's driving me mental as it's like riding with a square wheel (or over cobbles).
I thought standard tyres worked ok on UST rims? 819 isn't huge and 1.95 is a reasonable width. Any ideas?
Have you tried using a tube? It may get the tyre to seat correctly.
Inflate it to about 80 psi, till it seats properly. leave for a bit, then release pressure till its the pressure you want
Sorry - I've got a tube in there already and have it up to about 50psi. I'll try adding more air....
Ok, at just over 80 it popped into place...and immediately lost all it's air. suspect the tube was cut at the valve. Will have a look tomorrow - getting shouted at to get ready to go out.
The inner tube popped ๐
Anyway, I think you got the idea of what to do!
