Hi
After a lot of advice from members here on a good reasonably priced FS bike, i have managed to get a Large 2005 Coiler that i am picking up at the weekend. The bike is as standard except for hayes v8 disc on the front. Are there any known problems i should be looking for? I am very new to FS bikes and dont want to make a costly error!
Thanks for ant advice.

Good solid frames, so unlikely to be any issues. Check for usual heavy use/wear and tear stuff (dents, dings, bad scratches, etc.) and check around welds for any signs of cracks although it's unlikely on one of these unless it's seen some serious abuse. One check you may like to do is unbolt the shock and run the rear through its travel to check for stiff links in the suspension system.

From experience it can be difficult to remove the main pivot pin if it has not been removed regularly. Check to see if either hex head is damaged.

check the welds around the pivots on the seatstay and chainstay for cracks etc

look for any rust stains coming out of the main pivot bearing, flip it over
if there is may need new bearings which is a pita so ask for a discount ๐Ÿ˜‰

disconnect the top shock mount so you can swing the suspension to and fro, you can soon tell if the main pivot bearings are shot as they have a tendency to rust from the inside out from water ingress down the seat tube. when i changed mine I put some silicone sealant at the base of the seat tube to prevent it.
