Hi all
A few weeks ago I bought my first MTB for 20 odd years. Spent as little as I could whilst still getting a half decent ride so plumped for an ex-demo Genesis Latitude 00.
I have properly fallen back in love with MTB'ing and have so far swapped out the Recon Silvers with Fox 32 F100 FiT Float RLC's, the brakes to M785's, built a new set of wheels, stem seatpost and bars - there's pretty much only the frame and drivetrain left.
So - do I just enjoy the ride as it is (Genesis Latitude 00 so Reynolds 520) or take the plunge and get a Handjob or a Soul frame.
Yes it does have to be 26" and yes it does have to be steel.

Can't see that there will be a huge amount of difference, the lattitude is a decent frame with similar geometry...

No, keep the Latitude for a while. As you really get back in to it your tastes might change.
Try a FS, 29er, longer travel 26er etc, bit more choice these days than 20yrs ago so try something else you might prefer it.

Ride and enjoy it Danny B, sounds like a nice bike. Very talented people have had brilliant fun for years and years on "lesser" bikes. don't get into all the marketing hype that goes with this Sport/lifestyle/website/magazine. you'll soon tire of the latest thing not making you brilliant. When you break it, get a new one that more suits your riding. Does that Ritchey come with a flux capacitor?
As above, just ride it. Spend the money on coaching or a trip somewhere nice.

Yes it does! Probably.
That Ritchey frame just oozes appeal, it just does. Some stuff just does and that just does.

Yeah, you guys are probably right - just seen a Soul and a Handjob second hand for not a lot of money and I love 853 tubing.
I do love riding my Genesis though and is great for relearn the skills on. Didn't want an FS at first as I feared it would teach me bad habits (or at least not teach me good habits)
I will get one eventually and will always have a hard tail in the stable also.
