I know someone who does this. Claims it chafes less than just wearing lycra. I don't get it either......

I know someone that does. I've tried persuading him it's wrong, but he just won't listen.

try telling female workmates not to wear anything under cycling shorts when they want advice to stop the 'burn' on longer riseds with their family and get some very funny looks!

riding buddy does - he also added its the only time he does wear them .... strange fella.

I my self do not .... I look upon it like wearing baggys over lycra - lycras comfy if you dont feel good about your appearance lose some weight 😉 why make it uncomfy with another pair of shorts to bunch up and chaff

It's just wrong. Baggies and lycra are designed to be worn next to the skin aren't they? We have shamed one of our regular group into stopping.

amen zoo fighter ...

did mayhem last year with no ointment of any kind .... people need to get a well fitting saddle rather than whats "fashionable" ....

my current revelation is how comfy a brooks is infact ... recent rides on it have been done un padded its that comfy and its only done 100k so far ...cant wait till its broken in fully !

You're just naturally well lubricated. 😯

Either that or you don't ride very far.

I used to wear proper short liners under Lycra, but they were designed to be worn like that. These days it's Lycra under baggies, 'cause my baggies don't have any padding, and that helps with the comfort thing on longer rides. But ordinary keks under Lycra? That's just wrong!

CZ I'm with you. And that's also with a female POV: It is [b]wrong. There is a big hint in the sale of baggies with padded liners.

I wear tights under my lycra shorts , and yes I mean ladies tights. I buy the Tesco cheapos, £1.50 for 5 pairs. I then cut them into cycling short length or don't cut them at all if I am wearing longs.

They stop any chaffing and wick sweat and moisture away from the body keeping you nice and warm. My mates all do the same now, don't knock it till you try it. Just hope I don't have an accident and need to go to hospital or anything 😆

😆 I was in the forces and we used to wear tights under combats in the Arctic, to give and added layer and air pocket between the skin and clothes. We used them in the Falklands to get moisture away from the skin and prevent hypothermia a tad. Also when wearing wet clothes it gives a barrier to prevent chaffing. I know it sounds wrong but at 30p a pair you should try and see for yourselves they work 🙂

Got some nice dripping left over from the wild boar we had for lunch. I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Minty arse lard is pricey. What do you expect from Assos?.
I'm not a fatty, but started using it after a bout of boils. I was prepared to try anything and have carried on using it,cos I like the tingly sensation. You don't get that with Sudocrem!
