footpaths on a nice Sunday

And everyone we met was really happy to see us, full of encouragement. Apart from the grumpy group walking up Skiddaw on the main drag from Latrigg. Go figure.

It is great isn't it? I must have ridden it five times now and it never gets old.

As for it being a footpath, I've only ever ridden it on a weekend or bank holiday and it's rarely busy and because I'm polite and courteous no one has ever minded. Most are impressed or excited! And since there's no good reason for it being a footpath who cares? The law is an ass.

This track is brilliant - I had one day in May to this year to explore as many big peaks around Keswick - and it was cracking the flags!

Managed Skiddaw (via Ullock pike) at dawn - Whiteless Pike after breakfast and finished with Grizedale Pike (Sleet How DH) after lunch.

Ranks amongst the most epic/scary days iv had on a bike

Amazing trail. Rode it for the first time on an August evening this year. Glorious weather but absolutely deserted. Was riding solo and 'blind' so was a bit cautious on some sections (especially the scree at the start). One to go back and revisit for sure.

It's a brilliant ride, you can miss Skiddaw by heading up Dodd, then to Carlisle Tarn. Nice short loop for an evening.

My favourite ride last year was a solo after work on a beautiful midweek evening in may. Parked at the base of ullock, dash falls, back of skiddaw, latrigg then up the front of skiddaw and back down ullock. I saw 2 people on the main skiddaw climb but no one else the entire evening. Absolutely awesome few hours. The lake district is ace, especially if you can avoid the crowds.

I'd love to see Adam Drayton riding it...

I reckon it's look proper ace if filmed from a drone from the north. See the ridge in profile, a rider flying down it with derwent valley behind.
