allthegear - MemberHi JustGoRide,
I like the site - a really useful thing. I wonder if you have seen the Openspace service, basically Google Maps by the OS. See http://openspace.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/openspace/
Might be a more familiar route map than the Google one.
Rachel
In response to this and a few other similar requests I've now added OS maps to the site to enable route nav sans GPS..

Thanks!!
No probs, I'm just wading through all the suggestions and trying to incorporate as many into the site as is feasible!
The OS idea was always a good one and I had the code for it already so it was an easy win!
hi JustGoRide
Finally mapped gisburn forest, do you still need the route?
If so how to i get the route to you??

Yeah, thats would be great. RunKeeper should have uploaded it to their website. You should be able to log in and export it as a GPX file. You can then log in the JustGoRide and upload the GPX file on the Routes Page.
Alternatively you can email it to me and i'll get it uploaded! ๐
Thanks
Pete
In the words of Gordon Ramsey "Gisburn Forest route upload....Done!" ๐
Nice one.. So looking at Gisburn Forest.. is this the official website?

If so it looks like its a fully waymarked trail and I need to get it on the map! I don't suppose you have the blue trail as well do you?
Either way I'll get Gisburn added to the Trail Centre page asap
Thanks
no i don't think it is the official website and the trail map on this site is a couple of years old with old routes and a projection of future routes.
i managed to find the following information which will help you add Gisburn to the trail centre page
http://www.gisburnforestmtb.co.uk/
There is an upto date map on these pages (apart from a small new section) which also has the blue route on which i didn't map.
My route of Gisburn is slightly shorter than the official route as i take an unofficial trail through the forest to cut out a long length of "boring" fire road but last time i was there i noticed signs of trail building through this section so the route is probably going to end up going that way.
Thanks, there's plenty of info there! I'll look into getting in added this week!
Jim's route is probably correct. We are bypassing the long boring fireroad section, hopefully the new section will be open early next year if not before. There is a better route map here
The routes are fully waymarked and there are plans to upgrade the carpark and add toilets. No specific plans for a tail head cafe yet but there is a great mountain biking pub with cafe, bike wash etc. just off the trails halway around (Dog & Partridge at Tosside).
I've finally got around to adding Gisburn, sorry for the delay!
I've also added the icon by the trails which have associated routes, I can't remember who suggested it, but great idea! ๐
Could you not also show forestry commisioned forests that have dedicated bike routes on them?

Most of them are FC sites. Can you give me an example of where you are thinking of?
Chopwell woods - North East England
Craik Forest - Scottish borders
Both FC owned but with marked out graded bike runs on them, but not a trail centre.

Sure, I need as much info on them as possible though. I have just had a quick googling session but there seems to be limited info. A great reason to add them to the site really, but I need to know what trails are in each location, each trail distance, grading, brief description, etc..
If you know these drop me an email and I'll get them added!
The initial map was compiled using the FC website as a reference..

These less well advertised trails are harder to get info on unfortunately.
