I've never ridden one of those Whytes, how do the forks compare with something intended for purpose?

A rocker link longer than the forth bridge doesn't help matters 😆

Hand crafted by a blind hobbit maybe?

It's not just the design of the Paperclip, it's also the spiel on the webpage.

http://www.geocities.com/sjodesign/

Made from aluminium the frame is light and beautifully balanced giving a more enjoyable ride. This balance coupled with the positive flex, which propels the bike forward with greater ease than a normal full suspension frame, has given me my ideal mountain bike.

Winning this should be easy. Just combine the two things responsible for the ugliest bikes ever in the world and combine them, search for biks of that nature and bob's your uncle, ugly bike ahoy.

so, google..... 'German' '29er' here we go.

the girvin forks worked pretty well consider what else you could get.

yep i had some of the carbon ones on my bike for a while, they were really good despite some peculiar brake dive.

Had an Alpinestars raised chain stay bike though can't remember the model, bright yellow though. Great to ride and climbed well (Mind you I was thin and fast then). Had replacment frame as all welds cracked at head tube, seat tube, stay and top tube. Importer said we've not seen this before, had to remind the them that Tim Davis (Alpinestar Pro) had got through eight frames already. Sold it as soon as frame arrived.

Hi Ade!

Sorry, but I think the PRST has a brutish charm about it! Pure engineers beauty!

Paul

Samuri - You have to wonder why some one would build a purple single speed with lefty and red side walls.. but then you see the Garry Fisher name on the frame and it all just make sense and is no longer ugly.

Looks like someone got their frame broken on the plane, so decided to build the bike up using the bike box. And forgot to put a chain on it.

The Whyte PRST-4 can't be the ugliest

The PRST-1 is worse:

james i actualy prefer the preston 1 swinging arm to the look of the jw4

the jw4 one seems to look to heavy ,,,, not too sure about your hose routing for the rear brake

it's great to see an early preston still being used,, my geared preston one has the same set up straight bars with bar ends

they are ugly stunning in that unconventional way,, not to everyones taste like Drew Barrymore that is drew not michael

I rode one of the PRST1 prototypes at Cheddar when it was doing the rounds (I think Dave Hemming was still the rep for ATB back then), the lads had a railway sleeper on the ground and where encouraging people to ride over it to show how plush the fork was. It worked for me, I ordered one next week, also had a PRST4 which was a better bike to ride due to the better back end.
