As usual, I'm on the lookout for an unlikely combination of criteria:

29", fast-rolling but without a total lack of grip, 2.3-2.5" or thereabouts, and bargainmungous.

As a reference point, I picked up a pair of WTB Nine Lines in my LBS's bargain bin for £10 each a while back. They're absolutely spot on apart from the fact that they're the 2.0" version; if I could find the 2.25" version cheap, that'd do nicely, but I can't.

Anything else I should look at? Would like to pay buttons because I'm a tight fisted git and, more reasonably, it's not as if I can't use the tyres I've already got 😉 so £20 each end is the top limit.

Ta

I got some Shwobble Big Ones (2.35) from Planet X for £33 posted a while back, they might have some left.

Aha! Planet X seem to have the cheap version of the Nine Lines at the moment, plus a couple of other things of interest. Thanks 🙂

Yeah, I went to check and spent £42 I wasn't intending to spend - pair of Rivendell Jack Browns.

What else did you find?

Slightly smaller than you wanted, mind, at 2.2, but I have them in 27.5 and they aren't that skinny.

What else did you find?

Mainly the Trail Boss in 29x2.4 folding. Though I've got a pair of Nobby Nics which seem to cover me for bigger knobs, so I should probably refrain even though a theoretically larger carcass appeals.

The Mavics are of potential interest… folding bead makes storage much easier than wired.

Cheers
