HI folks,
Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on whether there would be much benefit in going from 35mm internal width to 29mm (Stans MK3) to get a better tyre profile for 2.35 SG magic mary's? Schwalbe seem to state 35mm is still ok, but just! Worried about cornering profile if it sits to square on the rim.
Cheers
I can't really help with your question, but wouldn't it be cheaper to change the tyres?
Thanks mate, yes but my issue is the plus tyres float on mud a bit which is not ideal for the coming weekends enduro in the middle of a still melting Highlands. Plus tyres win in the dry tho IMO.
You'll be fine, I'm running a 35mm internal width rim with 2.35 SG Marys at the moment - feel a bit more progressive if anything in comparison to when they on the skinnier Crossmax Enduros.
Still draggy and heavy old things though, tempted to try 2.5ย Shorty/Minion Maxxis WTs
Jamesfts, cheers. That's reassuring. I went with Dirt Dan's at Vallelujah. Entirely unnecessary drag-fest. Think I might try the Minion SS's on the back to compensate but then again I might die!
2.35 Magic Mary: 25 mm ... 30 mm internal rim should be a good range.
Your 35 mm internal rim: that's more for 2.6 Magic Mary?
Your bike takes 2.6 inch rubber?
"SG" versions Magic Mary: heavy and fantastic! I don't care about the weight too much - I love the grip...
I've ran 2.3 and 2.5 tyres on 36mm rims for 5-6 years now, never had any problems
Conversely, I have a 2.6in Nobby Nic here and I have a 23mm internal rim.
Anyone used such a wide tyre on a relatively narrow rim?
Before I got the wider rims I'd run a 2.5 minion on a 19mm internal however maxxis are known to undersize so probably not as big as a 2.6 Nobby Nic
Andreashorn, yeah I have a 2.6 which is fantastic in the dry but, particularly the early season enduro's, dry is a rare word indeed ๐ The thinner tyres will hopefully cut the mud a bit better.
Cha****ng how you getting on with the 2.6 nn on the narrow(er) rim?
Like the look of the wider nn but have a 26mm internal rim
