[#10853763]

Good morning all.

So just upgraded my Cube to XT Di2 and took it out for a spin yesterday, tyre wise running Racing Ralph on the front and Conti Race King on the rear - these (when I brought the bike) were purchased to do some XC racing, situation has now changed and so has the terrain, which resulted in a substantial cut in the front tyre. I'm now on the look out for some replacements - seems to be an absolute minefield out there!!

So basically i'm after 29" tubeless that is suitable for rocky (some sharp/loose), dry, dusty, loose gravel terrain. I've seen Rock Razor and the Minions mentioned, but was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions.

TIA

Hutchinson Griffus?
Not used one but their Toro is superb and the Griffus is stickier, wider and designed for that sort of terrain.

Specialised have a tyre sale on line at the moment.~£25 a tyre.

I'm running butchers at the front of both my bike and a purgatory on the back of the hardtail.

On One PX have Maxxis aggressor 29 x 2.3 EXOs for £22. If you aren't riding anything soft they are great on rocks and hardback.

Minions - love em. Roll ok, grip predictably in any conditions, and been great on rock and roots.

Aggressors are a good shout. Basically an ignitor after a diet of steak and steroids. Worked really well on my mates bike out in Morocco - on both ends too which we thought was controversial.

If you’re nimble how’s about a Conti trail king? I usually run them on my alpine. A little lighter than the maxis offerings but still tough. Possibly more prone to pinching if you were to follow my hideous bulldozer line choices.

So bit of an update, in the end I went for the Specialized option of Butcher (front) and Purgatory (rear) - 2.3 in wdith. The bike has now gone from being Chris Froome to Big Daddy with the weight of the tyres lol. However they are such an improvement over the ones I had on originally, my confidence was buzzing, so good I did the route twice!!

Landmine Route
