[#6767792]

Im running and Orange 5 150mm travel, 27.5 wheel size.

I am looking to go tubeless and would like some advice about tyre choice combo as i'm a little clueless having only ever used nobby nics,

For info most of my riding time is spent on:

Llandegla
Coed y Brenin
Bike Park Wales and occasionally antur stiniog

I also do the odd long distance event though this is only a couple of times a year

Thanks

I just went 650b and swapped from my normal Hans dampfs to a butcher/purg combo... Very very impressed even in the worst conditions. Have done a few longer rides as well as a bit of jumping/techy steep stuff... Can't see me trying anything else for a while..

If you do jumps and want tubeless I would look at something with a protected sidewall. Maxxis EXO sidewalls are like having a 1.5 ply with minimal weight increase. Also with looking for a softer compound for the front for added grip.

High Roller-2 up front with Ardent rear...go Super Tacky on the front with Exo sidewall protection.

Looking at what you're riding you'll need some different combo's. I do the same sort of stuff as you and have gone with the following in 2014.

Antur Stiniog Magic Mary Super Gravity all year.
BPW same but sometimes go for Minion DHF/DHR in summer single ply.
CYB / Degla Winter using Bronsons right now Conti MK Protection Black Chilli rest of year except when it's super dry then swap to Ardents.

Still running 26" and picking most of these up perfect knick 2nd hand for buttons. Choice slightly defined by what I find easier to get to stay up tubeless but mostly for trail conditions. Not sure whether they are all available in 27.5.
