Hi guys,
First post on the forum but have been following it for a while and has been an endless supply useful info.
Just after peoples opinions really,
just ordered a Santa cruz nickel frame and was going to transfer over the XT groupset inc brakes with a XTR rear Mech and the Talas R36 RC from my old Specialized 2006 Enduro pro. Though would look to replace the fork in the long run.
I also have a Dialled kobe Ti with SLX groupset, HFX brakes some Mavic 321 wheels and a fox vanilla 130R.
Now i'm wondering as I've really bought the SC as a do it all bike whether to cherry pick both bikes and sell the rest to try and fund some of the new frame.
The SLX are quickfire which I love but the XT shifters are super smooth in comparison. Also the vanilla is a cracking fork but the QR can be a bit flexi.
What are people's thoughts?
If you made it this far thanks for sticking with it.
Is the XT stuff all original (And being 6 years old, presumably a bit knackered)? If so then the SLX kit is probably better, non?
The 36 foxies will just be wrong on a 125mm frame. Surely the 130mm 32s would be a better bet?
If you want just the one bike, I'd sell the other bike as a whole (with all the bits left over from the SC build), then use the money to buy whatever forks you want (I'd suggest some bolt-through revelations?).
Was wondering the same thing about the age side of it with the xt's.
The frame can run 120 to 140mm which did have me leaning towards the 36s for adjustability in the meantime but I agree with it not being the best combination.
Just had to pull my self off the rock shox page.
