not the flavour of the moment? Looking at options for 120ish mm frames, flux looks good but hardly seems to get a mention these days.

Out of fashion or not cutting the mustard?

The Burner would be the current Enduro darling I guess.

I gave the Flux a serious look over, together with an alloy SC 5010 and Intense Spider earlier this year.
I had a Covert previously but just wasn't getting the most out of it due to living in Hampshire and restricted opportunities to travel to bigger terrain due to young family.
I reckon the Flux would be a little ripper around tight XC / UK type trails and definitely worth a look. I went for a TR Scout in the end for several reasons including price, availability and geometry that I thought I would be happier with.

I wondered why it seemed to have died in the UK.

3 or 4 years ago there was heaps of talk and a few tests of 26" DW Flux. For the 650b there appears to be a small number of first impressions. I think I found one test in a US mag of a base level full bike.

Now the Burner is being modified makes me wonder if the Flux will too. I decided to keep my last model 26" Flux.

I've got one of the previous gen (but still DW-link) flux with the 100mm rear and a SID 120mm up front. It's a great XC machine. With light wheels and mostly XTR kit it's fairly light as well. The firm pedalling platform makes it feel pretty fast. I had to get the RP23 custom tuned, it was just a but rubbish in the middle of berms and would blow through its travel. This summer I've been upping my miles and have fallen in love with this bike again.

However, last night I was out on my Burner. Big tyres, Pikes and a CCDB inline. If never fails to put a smile on my face! It does feel slower than the flux!

If the flux dies, or something else major gives up (forks, wheelset etc) then I'd have to consider replacing it with something with a tapered steerer and bigger wheels. I think the new 650b flux would be perfect ๐Ÿ™‚

How you getting on with the scout Jef? Couple of mates have and really like, but they ride a lot bigger stuff than me, hence the flux being quite a bit lighter looks a better fit for my wheels on the ground riding

Love the Scout. Coming from the Covert it just feels more efficient when pedalling, lighter, more 'poppy' and just more fun to ride.

The Large Scout also fits me better that the Medium Covert which helps a lot.

I have a 120mm hardtail (Decade Virtue) which I used to ride possibly more than hauling the Covert about for most riding. I always had a dilemma of which bike would be best suited for which ride.
Since getting the Scout the HT hasn't seen the light of day. Whether I am out 'Bridleway bashing' with my mate who doesn't strictly do MTB stuff due to a powdered elbow from a nasty off, to following another mate on his Orange Patriot through his favourite trails, the Scout always feels like the right bike for the job.
