Just having a look for a new set of cx tyres and amazed at the prices for tubular tyres! I'm looking for something that will take a pounding on some rocky fast descents, but still have good rolling capability on the road. Basically I'm trying to avoid pinch punchers, so any advice/experience welcome, cheers
For racing unquestionably, for anything else most likely not.
Go tubeless would be my answer to your question.
I was in the same boat and opted for stans rims and their no tubes system. Not UST tyres i may add, i use CX comps which run fine with sealant.
No unless you race. Don't see many stony descents then.
3 Peaks excluded of course.
So I'm assuming all tubs need gluing somehow to the cleaned rim? Out of interest what kind of pressure do people go for with the stans set up? I've read somewhere not to go too much above 40psi?

Not been tubeless on my cx bike for many rides but have so far tried pressures between 35 and 45psi. If I was racing I'd run a fair bit less.
