Anyone tried using a valve and it's bonded rubber seat taken from a knackered inner tube?
Or even take the valve out of the rubber completely and make a new silicone seat using a bit of Sugru?
£14 just seems a bit pricey for a pair of valves...

I tend to cut them a 1/2" or so either side and just wide enough to fully sit in the rim well

cheers fellas. good to know. Any need to "glue" them into the well or will pressure seat them well enough?
just tighten, hard.
cut a smaller rubber O ring from another bit of the old inner tube and push the valve through that first. It seems to seal better without having to crank it up quite so tight.
