Sorry if this has been asked before but there used to be a lot of talk about how to get tubeless tyres to seat. Has anyone tried the old redneck trick with ether or easy start?

Cheers for that! It started out all corn-ball but showed an edge.... "Small pilot flame --WTF??!"
I nearly got to where I was gonna have to try this recently but just got a HD & NN to seat with tubes first (other posts). I was a little nervous as I once lost my eye lashes and brows when the lighter I was refilling sparked up...
I've seen (on TV) off-road snow truckers in Iceland do this too, well cool, brill & ace.

I have a boat trailer with tubless on and tried that one side worked OK the other set the tyre on fire 😳
