I was having what i thought was a tubeless 'mare

Did 4 wheels today but the Hope front with WTB trail boss wouldn't stay up...Re-taped it ... still no...Checked tyre... seems OK..

Worked out the valve core was loose ! so i was losing air from there.... Sorted and happy...

Then my mate calls who'd been sorting his tubeless out...

His didn't go quite as well !

Jesus!

Those jeans!

Did he cave the tyre’s proverbial face in with that brick?

I'm struggling to understand how a tubeless failure would cause that kind of damage to a rim? If the rim was dinged however, it could cause localised stresses in the tyre that would result in the tyre bead snapping...

C'mon then, what psi had he got to when the action occurred?
Badger pic indeed ☺

I'm guessing the rim dent was caused when the wheel was thrown across the garage!

Seriously though - I had a tubeless tyre explode off the rim once at 50psi and is broke a laminate flooring slat. It's why i'd rather use a track pump than an Airshot; failure at 20psi is annoying buy failure at 120psi is more fruity.

I get the impression that it was about 80psi. Not sure how or what bit caused the dink but it wasn't there before he started.

Lucky I have 3 front wheels to suit his bike so we can still do Swinley tomorrow

Having heard from 5m, and watched as the wheel flew into a nearby tree, I can confirm a 50psi sudden failure leaves the puncture repairer and friends deaf for a few minutes.

Just get an adjustable spanner on the rim a slowly tweek it straight.
I had a tyre blow off the rim in the exact spot I was holding the wheel.
The feeling came back in my fingers eventually.

The key with the airshot or any other inflator is rapidly getting up to pressure - not twice the max pressure!

Holy shit that must have hurt the ears!

And then jump on the rim to make it round again?
