[#1680220]

Just got my lovely new tubeless tyres - but discovered I need to get valves and sealant separately ๐Ÿ˜ณ

CRC is showing so many different ones that I'm not sure which ones to get - does it matter or are they much of a muchness?

Thanks for any advice

The valves you use will depend on what wheels you have, what are they ?

Didn't you get valves with your wheels? They should come with tubelss rims?

If you need the full tubless kit though (for converting non tubeless rims) I've found Joe's No Flats to be the least all round hassle too fit, though you need to be careful pulling a track pump off the valve stem - they get a little weak after a few months and it's possible to detach the vlavle from the rimstrip leaving a big leak.

Sealant - Stan's Joes whatever, all seem pretty good.. justridingalong.co.uk used to do their own which worked and was a bit cheaper.

Just make sure you grease the lock nuts or they will seize, resulting in valve-rage:

That was a valve from a Shimano XT wheel. Mavic valves seem to have the same design with a knurled locking collar housing a rubber o-ring. The Stans ones seem to be simpler (= better) but still benefit from a dab of grease.

As for sealants, Stans or Joes are good, Bonty SuperJuice isn't.

CRC etc are simply too confusing. justridingalong.co.uk is a great one stop shop for all that stuff. Their valves are good as is their wheel milk... I put an order in yesterday and have already recieved the email saying it's been processed.

Ah, shows how much I don't know about my own wheels!

They are tubeless, but I've been using them with "non-tubeless" tyres for the last 2.5 years cause they were actually really good tyres for all conditions... Better find out what I did with the valves!? (they are Mavics btw, so hopefully I won't be a victim of valve rage )

Thanks for the tips, I'll also check out justridingalong.co.uk!
