Ok just fitted some Schwalbe G-One 38mm tyres (tubeless easy apparently) to some 29er Flow rims for my cross bike.

Stans say max of 38psi at 2.3" and 40psi at 2.0", but these Schwalbe things took 60psi to get them to seat - but they are only 1.5".

Their holding pressure and they've gone in the garage overnight.

There have been some good exploding wheel type threads associated with over pressuring Stans rims, but I don't think that was with anything as narrow as 1.5".

Ideally I'd actually like to run them at 60psi for commuting- what do people reckon?

I ran mine pretty high tubeless, 17mm internal width rim and no issues.

I had issues seating tubeless at first but fitted them with a tube and left overnight, they next day they went on no

No problems getting pressure in, they were just so tight that the bead didn't want to go over the shoulder in the rim until I got to 60psi.

Emailed Stans / ZTR / notubes - see what they say too.

@lgm - it quite often takes more than the running pressure to achieve the magic "pop" noise, but you can then safely lower the pressure again.

As for the safe operating pressure, you can only go on the manufacturer's recommendation, but you probably don't need60 PSI for commuting

I run my 37c tyres tubeless on Stans Crest rims. 50psi is the limit, if I go over it, the tyre WILL explode off the rim. This has been confirmed 3 times at 60, 55 and 53 (digital gauge) PSI. 48-50psi has been fine.

Thanks all.

60 psi would be nice. Twenty mile commute on poorly surfaced roads, slimy green cycle paths and loads of dropped diesel.

I use road tyres in the summer, but the G-Ones look good for winter.

And I've had too many punctures recently hence the desirability of tubeless.

60psi is going to be rock hard. What pressure do you run your 25 or 28s at?

Out of interest why do you want to run them at 60psi?

I find 35 - 40 perfectly fine for commuting.

25s at 110 rear, 95 front.
28s about 95 and 80

I'm not small (15st7 if I get 100 miles a week in) and I've got a laptop and change of clothes in panniers.

So those pressures are about right on that 15% sag chart.

50psi without tubes should be OK.

I run the 1.75s on my commuter at 70 psi. Works just fine

The new flow mk3 rims, will explode a 2.5dh tyre off the rim and cover you in stans at 40 psi... in my experience. I'd say their recommendations are pretty accurate and wouldn't go to far above what stans say.

As an aside if you put plenty of soapy water (washing up liquid) around the bead it will seat a lot easier and you won't need a high pressure to pop the bead in.

I learnt the hard way after getting showered in sealant when I put 50 psi in a stans flow rim.
