[#1375261]

I am trying to remove a Truvativ Firex chain set from my bike but am having real problems. The bolt has come out of the non-drive side crank arm with no problem but I can't get the crank arm off the axle. Now on a shimano crank a tap on the arm usually does it but quite stern hammering has produced no result. Is there some trick I don't know before I start on ultra violence?
My last Truvativ crank set had to be angle ground off! [isis though]

Please tell me you have a crank extractor?

how did you get the bolt undone without it coming off the axle?

What for an external GXP BB? I had a look at the SRAM website and it looks as if the general system is the same as shimano apart from securing the non-drive arm with a bolt into the axle rather than pinch bolts

Aaah, the reference to angle grinding ISIS cranks made me think you had an old square taper Firex or sommat and were just belting it with a hammer!

It's like Shimanos, but worse! There's nothing else holding the crank on IIRC, so you just need to hit it harder.
