Would you / could you trust a rim that leaks air from the seam weld on the apex of the curve?

I found out last night, as I put new tyres on the cx bike, that that one rim leaks air from the seam weld when no sealant is in the tyre (I always dry fit tyres out of habbit, then add sealant). As its the cx bike it won't be taking any big hits, but it has made me question the structural integrity of the rim.

Two of my bikes had rear rims that leaked at the seam weld, it stopped when I added sealant.

I ride my bikes hard and I weigh about 90kg currently and they are fine, so yeah I would trust the rims.

Wouldn't worry too much, the rims are *normally* in compression so it's unlikely to fail, and certainly not JRA.

It would bother me though.

It won't leak at the weld if you use full width tape.

My Alex rims leaked at the same place but have been 100% fine with sealant.

I’m heavy.

i wouldn’t be worried at all, unless there was a visible gap. And even then I wouldn’t be all that worried.

This is a fatbike rim I had before it got built into a wheel.

No one died from using that wheel.

Leaked sealant like a bastard so I araldited it up. Worked fine after that.

I had the same issue. I used the glue from a patch repair kit to seal it. Full width stans yellow tape. Added sealant  and it was fine. That's on an Alex road rim, not designed as tubeless ready. That was over 2 years ago.

That and most rims (since disks made smooth rims superfluous) are pinned not welded, so a welded but cracked rim is just a pinned rim (assuming they tabbed/sleeved it before welding).
