Bonesetter

The 2200 lumens is the max rating as quoted by Cree .

just like the 900 lumens quoted for the DX bastid

so yes there will be losses and the output will probably be 80% of the max .

it is just a number and a missleading one at that .
but seeing as all the makers quote the theoretic max I will also .

Tom Mail me in about a week and I will know what I have around

2200? As I understand it there is an efficiency to factor in (heat production etc) on that figure. Is this correct, or is it 2200 actual output?

Theoretical but then don't most manufacturers quote that figure? There's loss in the driver but not sure if that's reflected in the max output from the driver being reduced (ie 970ma not 1000ma which means the light output being reduced) or having to put more power in to the driver to get 1000ma out. And the optics won't be 100% efficient so there's a loss. But if you lose 10% that'll leave 1980 lumens. Pah, hardly worth it now is it 😉

EDIT : Doh, beaten by the man .....

Thanks Troutie.

I'm a facts man you see, so when I'm being asked 'How many L's it that nuclear reactor putting out?!" I can answer for sure.

Looking forward to to the light. Great work.

Cheers Dave

the driver will send the full 1000ma to the leds the optics are 90 % so lose the 10 % .

but then some of that loss comes out the bottom of the light
Liberated lumens 😆

Gazman will see what I can do but first got to keep the Liberator folks happy .

JC & MM as soon as I possibly can
the leds are still showing as in coventry awaiting clearance for delivery what ever that means

and damn drivers have not left USA yet 👿

some good news and some not so good

collected the stuff from anodizing

[IMG] [/IMG]

the gunmetal grey are now silver grey and a bit lighter than expected .

If you really hate the silver grey then there are a few black ones available to swop to

and the Titanium one could be dodgy .too

Hi Trout, any chance of posting up a better close up pic of the lighter gunmetal housing? Maybe side by side with the original gunmetal that you had which was quite dark? Maybe an idea to do a similar thing with the titanium one too, whoever has that one? Just an idea, as I can't really tell very well from that pic.

P.s. the purple one looks pretty funky!! 🙂

Cheers, James.

Thanks for that! So I guess far left is the new lighter gunmetal, middle is the titanium, and far right is the older darker gunmetal we saw before?

Oh, I see! Yeah that is quite different! I'd still rather have the gunmetal than the black one though, thanks. Oooh I can't wait to get it now!! 😀

P.s I'd still rather the dark gunmetal, but hey ho!

Trout.

Nice work there. Especially the black light with the shiney silver thing on the back. Is that a special customer order ?.

I've had something like that on my light.

Looking good

i'd like to ask why are you bothered what colour it is? It'll be pitch black* when you are using it. 🙄

* except for the daylight beam infront of you.

hux You chose Blue

Did i oh right because the email i have here said gunmetal, but if it makes life easier for you then i don't mind blue at all. 🙂

Just don't give me silver or i'll drive up there and kill ye. 😉 😆

Ooooooh i see where the confusion was, you mentioned colour i thought you were on about the text in your email, lmao and you were on about the light, oh dear, just checked back through and i see what happened now.

Ok no biggie blue it is.

Yeah there is a colour in these mails it's blue seeing as you wondered.

Kind of glad in a way, the new gunmetal is too light for my tastes so in a way that slip up kinda paid off.

Should be great seeing how they work, from what i've read it'll be like an xr-e with just as much throw but much better spill and colour rendition and run slightly cooler.

You must be dying to test them out, id be climbing the walls around about now. 😆

Using this web site and these figures - forward voltage per LED = 3.3V, nos of LEDs = 3, efficiency 90% and the battery shown

run time on max @ 1.5 hours

Trout - how are you attaching the battery to the driver and are you planning on charging in situ or taking battery out ? I've been thinking about how it could be done but not come up with a simple way yet.

Specs
helmet mountable
[IMG] [/IMG]

weight at the mo 270 gms on the helmet .

3 XPG leds theoretic lumen at 1000ma 1100 lmns
but would run it @ 700 ma to up the runtime .

test data from CPF Geeky guy
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=3115908&postcount=354

Battery is an old one so would expect 2.6 AH
so should get 2 hours on full .
also Smudge is looking at Li poly packs for it .

Checked With George @ taskled about the Maxflex and it is ok to leave it in circuit whilst chargeing and in sleep mode it will take 40000 hours to drain the battery

charging in situ may be a replaceable battery option but not soon
