Finally getting round to fitting the triple clamp forks to our tandem but they have 32mm stanchions and the only bumpers I can see are 35mm or 40mm - is it okay to just wrap some tape or something underneath the bumpers?

As long as you are sure they will stay put in a crash (or when rattling down rough trails)

Plenty of folk zip tie bits of old tyres instead though, try that?

Newer ones definitely stayed in place better, then they degraded over time from memory. A cable tie wrapped around them was a popular fix, but sometimes sitting just above the bottom crown was the perfect place for them anyway (and twisting round didn't always matter either)

Get some old 32mm boxxer bumpers, ZyroFisher still have them in stock (order through any LBS with an account), RRP £11 R5202000 Or you can get them posted from ebay for a couple of quid more.

If they are fresh and clean they should sit ok, if not you can do all the old grip tricks, hairspray etc
