Anyone know anything about trek sizing changes from 2014 bikes to 2015?
I'm looking at a superfly HT. The 2014 bike is available in a 9.7 but an 18.5in frame. The website states that it's suitable for a 66-70inch height. Spot on if true as I'm 68in. However, the 2015 HT superfly says that the 17.5in frame is suitable for heights of 66-70in (!). I'm totally confused as to what size bike I should be looking at.
Forget the number on the frame. Find an actual geometry chart and work from there.
They have not changed there sizing. My 54cm ones/17.5" are the same as they have been for years.
Superfly geometry changed from 2014. Before that they offered 17.5 and 19in. From 2014 it's 17.5, 18.5 and 19.5.
I'm either a 17.5 or an 18.5. 5'7.5 with a 32" inside leg. Arm span is exactly the same as my height. Problem is further compounded by trek's geometry chart which says that a 18.5 actually has a 17.5in frame size. I've no idea if this also applies to 2014 bikes.
There are a limited number of 2014 9.7s available with £400 off. But only in size 18.5.....hence my dilemma. What I actually want is the 9.8 X1 however it's £800 more (£2400 v £1600). Dilemmas, dilemmas...!
A riding pal just bought a new 2015 Trek, it's a size up from his 2014 Trek - he remarked that he's glad he went to sit on it, rather than just order the same size.
B r - thanks for that. That explains everything. So if I'm reading this correctly, he had to buy one size smaller for the 2015 bike compared to the 2014?
Now I just need to decide what one I actually want. Hopefully get a sit on a 18.5 2014 tomorrow.
Trek sizing has not changed between 2014 & 2015 . At 5ft 8 you will almost certainly need a 17.5 frame .
At 5' 7" my 2014 18.5" suits me perfectly. 18.5" was introduced in 2014 and is the same as the old 19"
Ignore the size on the bike, look at geometry and TT length. It's far more relevant.
So what geometry and top tube length would you suggest ?
My superfly 8 is 17.5" 2014 and I am over 5"8 18.5" would be to big for me.My 17.5" is the top number on the frame sticker not bottom one.
