Trek Roscoe 9 or.........?

Morning all,

I seem to be getting the itch for a hardtail and am thinking of the Trek Roscoe 9 looks like quite a sensible option with a  good spec and price point.  It will be used to spare my FS from the winter swamps that are the local woods and will be nice to liven things up a bit when out riding during the nicer months too.  What other options are worth a look around the 2k point?

I think the new Orbea Laufey looks mint.

Am I right in thinking the 2023 is the straight top tube and storage locker model?  Which while very nice looking is also £600 over budget so that's out for me.  Can't say I'm particularly taken by the other version with the seat tube brace.

Any hardcore modern hardtail really. I've a Hello Dave that fulfills a similar role.

Sonder Signal gets a good write up.

One of the recent cheap Ragleys would also be good.

Specialized Fuse expert would also be a good option as there seems to be a few in the sales for less than £2k.

It is. It also starts at £1600 so well below 2k.

I was looking at more at the spec.  Have never really been a fan of Marzocchi forks and the model with a Fox is £2600.

What sort of riding do you plan to do with the Roscoe, the new model is not necessarily for mile munching as I have found out.

Feedback in all forms much appreciated.

Mainly it would be for local woods and trails, what did you not find so good for covering distances?

Whyte 909 for sub 2k, but 27.5 rather than 29, although runs 2.8 tyres.

I'd be looking if any of the chiggle fire sale bargains fit you and spending half the price. The remaining budget could pay for some nice upgrades.

I had the old primer grey Roscoe & got the black Roscoe frame as a warranty replacement. It’s longer & slacker than the old one. It’s ticks along but just doesn’t feel as efficient, it still covers the miles though.
