My advice?: if you want one, get one. My opinion: good bikes.

There we are, that was easy enough eh?

Brilliant all rounder, had a 2008 remedy 9 and a 2011 remedy 9, I have found them to be pretty much bullet proof, don't know what you are paying for an 8 but decadanse is selling a 9 for 1550 in the for sale section, which is a steal if tidy.

If it helps I spent a few days on a 9 in the lakes a couple of years back; loved it. Felt very similar to my five but the Talas 36 forks felt amazing!

Ive got a remedy 8 2011 - brilliant confidence inspiring bike.
The 2012 remedy comes with flip flop geometry and a DCRV fork. My friend has on and the fork is super plush, the bike feels a bit slacker so if youre in for hitting things bigger and harder, this is the bike at a great price point

I have a new one every year, got a 2012 now with some 55's on-didnt like the Fox DRCV forks to be honest. its slack, pretty light goes up very well and down very well, quite happy on all dayers out etc. Very happy!

Have three mates with them, very capable bike.

Find them very short in the TT myself, esp with a short stem. I prefer a bit more room, but each to their own.

I dunno if it's still the case, but putting a 36 or similar 160 fork on them used to invalidate the warranty. That said, all my mates that have them have 36s.

I thought they now come with 32s. The first ones had 36s.

You might want one, but do Trek have one? They are frugal on supply.

Nearly everyone I know who had a 2012+ one sold the DCRV fork to mugs.

it isn't good.

Gets a good review here. Think that DCRV shock technology sounds really interesting, keen to try one out to see how it rides

Demoed one a bit back and it was one of the nicest feeling bikes I've ever used in pretty much every respect. DRCV rear suspension felt super plush without taking any of the 'snap' out. Not that I know anything at all about rear suspension, but it was bloody good.
If I were buying one I'd want to build it up from a frame only though, because no bike manufacturer in existence knows how to spec a trail bike.

I bought a 2010 in the sale, flogged all the bits off it, swapped in my revelations, XT, reverb and Hope Hoops. Now have pretty much my perfect bike. I agree the TT is a little short for some though.

I don't know what they are like.

I really REALLY wanted one but Trek are refusing to supply my LBS with a 15.5" demo for me to try.

Thus they have lost out on a sale and I am currently in the process of finalising a spec for an Orange Five Diva.

I own a 2011 remedy 7 and it has been a great all round bike. I have upgraded a few of the components and added a reverb and always have a smile when riding. I have read mixed reviews about the DCRV front fork in the 2012 remedys but the rear DCRV shock works really well.

When i upgrade next year the new remedy will def be at the top of the list.
