Hi, i've bought a 2nd hand emonda ALR frame with a carbon fork.

The compression nut and top cap is different to what i'm used to. It appears to be a single bolt which tightens both the topcap and compression nut...... is this possible? I haven't seen anything like this before and feel i'm missing something!

Cheers!

Don't think you are missing anything, presume you have seen these bungs before. I think some do have a two stage fitment where you fix the bung first with an Allen key then screw in the top cap. Yours doesn't, so perhaps a bit trickier to seat correctly in the steerer.

Thanks, I think I have sussed it, i'm thinking there is another bolt for the top cap now stuck inside a larger bolt for the compression nut - now just need to free it up

I could also be wrong completely however!

You're missing the fact that you have got a seperate bolt, it's just jammed into the threaded section of the bung, and has unscrewed that as well when you removed it ๐Ÿ™‚

The top cap should unthread from the expanding wedge and there will be another bolt underneath that expands the wedge. You fit the wedge and expand it then screw the top cap onto that and tighten it down.
