if there's a little bit of wear on a stanchion, can it be treated? if so, how?
Take it to the zoo and buy it an ice cream.

you don't even have a set of forks at the moment
you could put some clear nail varnish on it, but there is probably a problem with the bushings too.
whats the fork?
There's absolutely no way that you can apply nail varnish (or anything similar) thinly and evenly enough to replace a layer of anodising. Once the stanchions are worn, the only solution is to replace them.
Try the nail varnish, if that doesn't work give me a shout ๐
set of revs.
Podge, what are you on about?
LoCo, what can you do?
I'd just replace the csu and bushes sizing them too e.t.c. Give me a shout I'll be the cheapest for this by a fair bit.
csu?
sorry, crown steerer unit or uppers if you like, that's if you arn't just going to ride them till they're really worn and then getting the job done.
As long as you don't have tonnes of play in the front end just leave the bugger alone and ride it.
A crown steerer unit is going to be spendy, so, get the bushings changed and carry on riding the bugger.
Also, as long as the fork is'nt leaking and you don't have problems with the fork sticking through its travel.. carry on as you were.
that's the plan so far AR. Fingers crossed!
