I bought some nice sealed gear cables off CRC but the outer supplied isn't long enough to do both front and rear mechs...
anyone know where I can get the kevlar outer cable from - just the outer cable, without having to buy a whole other set???
cheers
Wiggle do the standard outers separately as do CRC, parker international etc., but if I understand you correctly you are not looking for the standard outer. Assuming you are in the UK, the importers are Chicken cycles and they should be able to tell you whether the outers you want are available separately and they also have an extensive dealers list on their website so you should be able to find a dealer locally.
I've used the Mudlovers on several bikes and always had outer and inner left over, but that was on bikes that didn't run full length outers. Have you bought a Transfil set (Mudlovers or Flying Snakes) for a bike that runs full outers? Not really designed for that.
If you have any luck through ratadog's link please post back & let us know as I only need some more bits to do the next bike, not a whole set.
yeah - it was full outer - I didn't realise it wasn't for the full outer...
not sure whether to send back or just carry on regardless...
Transfil's work on bikes that don't run full outers by providing enough outer to replace the existing outer coupled with enough liner (thin enough to run through all the cable stops) to run the full distance from shifter to mech front & back, thus 'sealing' the wire from crap & corrosion apart from what gets in at the shifter or mech ends.
Transfil ends are not really any better sealed than standard shimano, they just stop the crap from getting into the main cable run & interfering with the shifting
A full outer run does the same thing so do you really need a sealed set?
