I am doing the transwales next week and i have entered the silver entry.
What is the deal with the food? is it an all you can eat, or can i request stuff of the menu, or is it like the pasta party type thing from breakfast, dinner, and tea?
Do i need to take food to save money?
Please help...
If your on a silver package, i'm hoping its pretty much all you can eat within reason.
Full breakfast everyday + packed lunch, and then whatever is an each nights menu. Think the only extra food you should need is snacks for on the trail.
See you on saturday
Top tip is take your own metal knife/fork/spoon. The plastic cutterly you get are pants. The drinks and snacks they sell in the food tent are expensive, so try and take enough with you. Enjoy.
Cheers guys, just got the menu from transwales on facebook ๐
I am just going to pack the usal; couple of bricks of sorene, tea bags, powered milk, suger, flask of pop, and more snaks ๐
and maybe a spell checker ๐
Radoggair - in fairness I used to rag Neil something chronic about his spelling until he put me right on his 'affliction', I felt suitably stupid so please don't fall into the same trap.
Good Luck Neil
mmm. Can't wait for a week of pasta again ๐
Food was pretty good last year. It's a proper catering company who charge a fair bit at other events they do.
I certainly never went hungry.
Good idea from Daisy-Duke. It is certainly nicer to eat with proper cutlery.
Teabags and milk are provided. But if you like your coffee it is worth taking your own Cafetiere and proper coffee. Hot water is on tap from the big urn?
Worth taking some money and some food to keep you going and to snack on post ride. Also there are pubs near the campsites and you can buy burgers after the night ride.
Look forward to seeing you there.
On five nights we should be in or very near a town with shops (eg a Spar) that is handy for snacks post ride. I got a bit hungary between arriving at camp at say 3PM and dinner at 7PM so its worth packing some Soreens, dried fruit, biscuits etc to snack on in the last afternoon.
Don't worry about pasta overload - last year was shepherds pie, curry, roast beef and normal 'school dinners' type menu items.
radoggair - WHAT THE **** has a spell checker got do with food for the transwales, so **** off and hi-jack some one else is post. yes i am dyslexic and cant spell and if you have no idea about dyslexicia some time spell checkers cant help (so i did use MS word as a spell checker)...
Sorry for the rant bit i am sick of people hi-jacking posts on here, it used to be a good place to visit, now it is getting full ok idiot's.
plumber ๐ Cheers man (on both accounts)
I am getting excited about it now ๐ good idea about the knife and fork, will add to the list tonight...
Are the tea bags and milk free?
Cheers for all the advice ๐ looking forward to seeing you all there ๐
Milk and teabags were free last year.
cool cheers Algore
food menu certainly better than I expected, things are looking up!
The food last year was great, loads of it - fill yer boots, especially at brekkie, you'll need it.
And yes, take your own means of making proper coffee if you don't like instant or tea.
