Sorry gents/ladies I bet this has been covered many times.

Looking at going from flats to SPD's now so whats the best recommended shoes you'd suggest ? without costing a bomb !

I was looking at the AM41's ? any good

Thanks

Lol, I was just coming here to ask the exact same question!

I have £50 of Amazon vouchers and want to burn them...

I do like the AM45s but find the bit around the toes wears quickly and then peels off completely. The sole has also come away at the toe of both my last pairs, not sure if I'm particularly hard on shoes.

Still good value if you can pick up a set for sub £50, not sure if spending close to double that on Mavics/Five tens or similar would mean they'd last twice as long...

Thanks James ... point taken there, do like the reviews for the Maltese Falcon mind but my concern is If I don't get on with being clipped in then I'll be gutted spending that much on a decent set of shoes.

Mine have both ended up looking like this quite quickly. The area on the right has lifted and about half has come away - the left has gone completely. Not the end of the world but rather it didn't happen and hasn't happened on any of my Five Tens...

(not my actual shoes)

I've got some of the Maltese Falcon LT's, they are really good.

They could be slightly better if they were black all over though! They grey bits clean fairly easily though.

What the hell have they done to those am45s?

Great shoe in my opinion. Bit heavy but keep your feet dry and should last a couple of years.
