Do they all run the same gear?
And what's the max speed ever ridden on a track? must be something pretty phemonenal

Same gear - no
Fastest speed - flying 200m World Record is 9.572. You can work it out but prob go faster in the sprint.

Max speed - individual, team (eg pursuit), or paced?
Team Pursuit speed is somewhere around 62kph. Sprinters will do about 70kph for 200m. Motorpaced - anything up to about 90kph.
