Just back from a lap of Holland, 360km and barely touched a road, bliss (if you ignore last week's weather, which was hard to do). Planning Hadrian's Wall cycle route with some mates who are history buffs, so pootling from museum to museum over four or five days.

A few days in Kintyre, Islay, and Jura next month. A 6 or 7 week tour booked for next year for western USA - route to be decided. Current thinking San Francisco - Route 50 Nevada, loop round Utah, pass by Grand Canyon and finish along Route 66 to LA.

Nothing actually planned but want to do a week in the Lake District in the summer plus a couple of long weekends somewhere (maybe a return to Anglesey)

1000K off road(ish). Just need to find the legs, the time and a willing accomplice.

I'm planning on doing a mtb touring/bikepacking trip from Geneva to Nice, roughly following gr5 in September with a mate, we've given ourselves 18 days so should have time to explore a bit if the weather is really good.

@ psycorp
Me and a friend did the Ridgeway last summer over a few days, he'd never been before and it was really good. Fairly mellow riding, lots of stealth bivi spots and pubs/places to restock food & water.

My back permitting, I fancy a bikepacking loop tour Pitlochry - Glen Lyon - WHW - East Highland Way to Laggan then bike path back to Pitlochry.

Boblo has trans England and Wales coast to coast jaunt planned too.

Reading up on the GDMBR and fancy a punt on it next year, as a tour.

Ton, I'll see how things work out in the summer. I might well tag along. I've never ridden in Wales before. Same format as the Isles trip?

Thought I'd bump this, how did your plans pan out? Needing some inspiration for the next trip.

Well mine was ace, wet, but ace.
I was a little surprised by the amount of climbing in the middle.. The start up the coast to the Solway was excellent, once in the estuary it just opened out and I was taken aback on a few occasions. Then the bumps in the middle to Hexham were really nice, the routes an easy follow so no need for my Garmin really, then the bit into Tyneside was also a great run in. The route goes through some odd bits there, quite rundown along the river, but you have to see all of the route to understand the beauty of it all.

Highly recommeded if you get the opportunity.

my pals are away on the transwales trip as i type. i am laid up.

but, i have spent the last 2 days trying to put a trip to Norway in place for next summer.
it is proving pretty impossible.
flights to Oslo no problem, flights to Tromso no problem, accomodation along the length of the lofoten isles is nearly non existant.

Crossed France from the Rhine to the Atlantic back in June - 1300km. The weather was a bit damp at times but we still enjoyed ourselves. It's difficult to get anywhere quickly in France because lunch keeps getting in the way ๐Ÿ™‚

Mine was equal parts utterly horrific and absolutely amazing. First three days in Holland and Germany was constant rain, just put my wet clothes back on each morning to keep my spare set dry. Not a good start to the trip!

[img] [/img]

Also had food poisoning (squirty bum and no appetite) for a few days so took it easy and cheated by getting a train to the Dansih border so I could stay on schedule.

Denmark was incredible, perfect sunny weather and a strong tailwind so I made it the whole way across in 2 days before getting the ferry over to Sweden. Some of the most enjoyable riding I've ever done on tour. Highly recommeded!

Turned rainy again in Sweden but had sunny spells too so was able to enough the riding. Some killer headwinds in parts though!
Did a mixture of expensive (but very nice) campsites and free wild camping.

[img] [/img]

Northern Sweden and into Norway the weather turned good again and stayed good, although the cycle paths in Norway are nowhere near as good as Denmark and southern Sweden, probably due to smaller population? Drivers were mostly very well behaved though so no issues.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Since getting to Oslo when I'm not working, I'm doing this:

And this:

Although the days are getting shorter, maybe I'll buy a fatbike when the snow comes... ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
