[Closed] Touring - does anyone use a bar end shifter for front mech and brifter for rear?

Just curious. I've got brifters on the bike I'm setting up for touring. I'm happy with how the rear shifts but can't quite get the front (triple) sorted. I know it might upset the fashionistas, but has anybody done it?

I run bar ends for both, i can't see how you'd have any problem other than getting hoods that feel similar in size.

Marco Pantani used to use a downtube shifter for the front mech and a brake / shifter for the rear.

As did Lance Armstrong, pre UCI weight limit.

As for the question I refuse to answer while they're referred to as 'brifters'!
