Anyone else giving it a go next week? The now slush covered churned up mud is not tempting me out there so would probably be on the trainer anyway. Though looking at the profiles in TrainerRoad it does look like a bloody hard week and now wish I'd not re-evaluated my FTP over the weekend!

Nice poster too...

Only own 4 otherwise I'd have a go.

I think they were doing some discount associated with it, may still be on. I'd accumulated most of them over the years anyway.

I did angels (my first sufferfest) last night and the prospect of downward spiral tomorrow scares me - let alone 9 days in a row. Maybe next time.

I'm doing it 🙂 Should be horrific. I'm going away this weekend so I'm going to have to get up at 5am on Sat. morning, do the first stage, go away and then get the second stage in late Sunday night when I return.

Horrific...

I've signed up for it.
I don't see how owning the videos will make that much of a difference as you will be following the pre-provided power profile of the video.

I signed up, only have three of the videos. Will probably buy a few more on Monday, and do others following the power profile.

I suspect it is better doing it with the videos, but I guess it will work without.

Good god. I wish I hadn't re-evaluated my FTP over the weekend. HHNF was bloody hard work. I suspect I will soon be dropped.

Suspect that a large proportion signed up then failed to make the starting line.

I'm not doing it, but i am a fan. I've been doing Wretched recently and it is the hardest one i've done (of the four i've got: Angels, Hunted, Revolver) - that final climb and run to the finish are hellish.

It's been interesting doing all these videos with TrainerRoad, i.e. with a defined power target. As a rough generalisation I would say the way I've always done Sufferfest videos in the past has been too low effort on the 6.5-7/10 sections, and too high on the 10/10 parts.

Given that a greater proportion of each vid is at a 7/10 type effort, doing this Tour, or rather, using TrainerRoad has got me working harder than I was before.

I only had 3 of the vids before, Angels Hunted and Hell hath no fury.

Bought the rest yesterday, first time doing both of yesterdays, enjoyed fight club, those short attacks suit me more than long sustained efforts, but I made the mistake of taking a 15 min break between the two vids, would have been better to get straight into the second one.

By the way, what are peoples set-ups?

I have it all set-up in my front room on a media PC, going out to the big screen tv, and sound through my hi-fi. No messing with laptops on stools in cold damp garages for me 8)

🙁

Hell Hath No Fury at 06:15 in 2 degrees in the garage was not fun 🙁

Well I'm out 🙁 A poorly blobby jr last night meant I had to give it a miss. Probably no bad thing as today's session would have been horrendous having been up all night.

Given that a greater proportion of each vid is at a 7/10 type effort, doing this Tour, or rather, using TrainerRoad has got me working harder than I was before.

Big +1 for this. Found the changes of pace hard to deal with too. Coming back from a long layoff too so maybe I was being a bit optimistic anyway.

By the way, what are peoples set-ups?

Got the trainer set up in my home office in front of the PC with a big fan!

'A Very Dark Place' was tough tonight, legs felt like lead.

Shattered now, just general, physical and mental fatigue...

Still enjoying it though!

So glad I didn't sign up to this, as my quads still hurt from Saturday's 'The Hunted' 😀

Stressful day at work today, and it had elevated my heart rate, so I didn't push that hard on this one. But I am still in the peleton.

Just did Angels, not too bad. Not looking forward to tomorrow, The Wretched & The Long Scream. Dreading Saturday (two full length ones!) and even Sunday is an 85min effort.

Really feeling tired now and eyes are sore from sweat!

Yeah I have just finished angels as well, I am working Saturday so that will definitely be a killer, might try to get one done in the morning before I go in.

Clever, although the guy who snagged Berkshire will be disappointed if he ever bumps into the person in Cold Ash (Berkshire)!

Actually this whole Tour has been marketing excellence, think I bought about 5 more vids to do it.

Yeah tonight was tough. I was feeling so drained I have had a curry with extra rice for tea, and 4 cans of Guinness. Carbo-loading!

'Downward Spiral' wasn't too bad last night, legs feeling pretty dead still. Today will be a hard day, 'There Is No Try' then 'Revolver' 🙁

Glad I did the first one before I went to work this morning, revolver was brutal, I don't think I would have finished it if I had tried doing them both this evening.

I think they are meant to be done back to back but as you've lasted a lot longer than I have I'll keep quiet about it 😉

Yes Revolver was brutal, really struggled to hang on.

Done back to back by the way, anything else just isn't cricket. Probably no point doing Local Hero tomorrow MSP, your whole tour is tainted! 😉

I'm obviously a bit late to all this Sufferfest stuff... have been hearing about the vids but not looked into them until now.

What are they like? Are they actually any good?

The cynical side of me just tells me to buy some normal Tour de France (or similar) DVDs and watch those on the rollers/turbo... is Sufferfest really worth it?

They're quite amusing, but I think you need to use some form of power measurement to properly suffer on them.

Yup, didn't think much of them until I did some with trainer road. Worth it and bloody hard when you have power targets to hit. Without it I never really bothered.

Agreed, before TrainerRoad I was doing a few a week over the winter but in a vague 'perceived effort' way. TrainerRoad makes it much more measurable, can't recommend it enough. All it took to get the TrainerRoad setup was a £20 USB ANT+ dongle, already had everything else. I'd looked at it in the past and assumed I needed some £000 power meter or something.

Congratulations to MSP, going to do the final 'stage' in an hour or so, not looking forward to it my legs are empty.

Chapeau to those that finished. Looked like about a 50% rate of attrition over the week!
