Good work by Sagan, he's properly cooked himself to help Kreuziger.

sticky ol' bottle or two there for Peter Perfect !

Yeah but he's going backwards now, I'd be surprised if he even finishes with the Yellow Jersey group, he'll just roll it in to the finish now.

Local bars were showing league, speedway and even canoeing! WTF?

So, in hotel room. Tablet tuned to ITV 4. Cold beer in hand.

Doesn't look like I've missed too much.

Considering what is coming he might even end up in the grupetto.
Awesome bit of work by him though

That's about the shape of it. Sounds similar, too. All you can expect from such an education, I suppose. Surprised it isn't just a series of clicks and grunts.

Oh and from the Oz commentators, Porte had the rear wheel rubbing on the frame most of the way post crash so he plans to attack again today

Yeah, that break isn't really going to work well at all.
They all know that Kreuziger is now in provisional 2nd overall and wants to defend that but they all know a stage win is in the offering so it's just going to be a bunch of individual attacks now.

I can see this one coming back before Joux-Plane and then everything kicking off big time.

For once, less is correct. People usually use fewer, but in this case less is correct.

Torrential here in morzine. Couple of massive thunder cracks so far. Brilliant atmosphere though. Sitting in Bar a Robinson fueling up on Mutzig for the finish sprint

As a chap who has just shat in the woods, I think I speak on behalf of all bears when I say "it's raining in Morzine again, folks."

Huge caravan, bigger than 2012 . Boys have a good stash of tat to cart down the hill if they don't overdose on Madelaines.

I'm. Sure we finally worked out Mutzig was simply the local word for beer...

Wow, the weather at Ramaz is amazing, those thunderclouds and the sunshine through them! Stunning.

I can't see the gc group taking it as easy down the run in to Morzine - I'm predicting more carnage.

EuroSport are interviewing that cheating shit Virenque about how to win in Morzine. He says you have to be at one with the mountain and a strong climber.

Doesn't appear to have mentioned being a lifelong user of EPO...

Is it me or did they let the break get too far ahead?

I never understand how former and current pros with doping backgrounds get next to no stick whilst riders like Froome who are (as far as anyone knows) clean, just get abuse all the time.

@Stoner you are on a roll with parenting by example 🙂

@mike I am thinking they must know what they are doing and expect to reel them in on the Joux Plane climb

I'm amazed they've let Kreuzinger get to within 2 min of yellow.

My guess is they are confident he can't hold that on the last climb

Mine being Porte attacking 2km from the summit, sky marking, quintana not making it and bardet dropping back

Not really but they're playing a delicate tactical game here, relying on the riders/teams in 2nd & 3rd (Bardet for AG2R & Quintana for Movistar) to be protecting their GC ambitions and chasing down Kreuziger.

They may just decide to hold him on a leash rather than waste time and effort trying to pull him back completely which then puts pressure on the riders/teams in 4th - 10th to be chasing. But then you start getting into team negotiations of who is going to work, who has the strongest teams, climbers, who wants (or is capable) of getting a stage win.

Actually a really interesting stage to watch in full, especially with Millar commentating.

Aru copying my climbing style!

You should have seen this point in the Etape. Loads of people suffering in the heat, loads of people who'd gone WAY too hard during the long flat bit from bottom of Columbiere to the foot of Joux-PLane (we missed out Ramaz).

Every single shaded bit had riders collapsed on the grass, pouring water over themselves and I passed some people who were really weaving all over the place. I stopped at the lake at the top to dunk my feet in, it was so hot.

🙂

On the mtb descent you have to ride up the road a bit through Tour - the heat coming off the tarmac is stifling and thats a fairly flat bit

End of a hard 50km mtb bike stage with a shit load of climbing and 35c temps I was passing guys nearly crying and puking from cramp. Nasty when it hits

Pantano vs Alaphillipe duel is gonna be great, especially on the descent. Hold on tight.
