Between either a transition bandit or a pivot mach 5.7C 😡
this will be my first full suss and i have 3k ish to play with. but i really really like the pivot!
anyone here got a bandit and can tell me its all i need and i dont want the carbon beauty! lol
no bandit owners out there?
Is disappoint
Isn't one a 160mm bike and one a 130mm bike?
Can you decide on the basis of where you'll be riding it?
Get a demo? I'd be keeping £3k firmly tucked up in my wallet untill I'd had a propper test ride!
the pivot is more all mountain and the bandit is heavy duty trail
I'd start a thread with "transition bandit or a pivot mach 5.7C" as a title - might get more views?
I thought this was a tribute to natalie imbruglia :/

Someone's going to come along and get very upset about that statement quite soon! I'm not sure what the difference is though.

[raises eyebrow]
Mmmmm.....
grum - heavy duty trail is similar to, but a bit radder than, aggressive xc whereas all mountain is altogether more gnarly but in a buttery smooth way
my daughter has a bandit. she loves it.
heavy duty trail - really mean I could ride this on an XC bike, probably faster, but don't want to admit it and lose my gnarrr-cred.
all mountain - someoen better than me could ride this on an XC bike, probably faster as well.
Make it easier...go for the alloy Pivot - cheaper and does exactly the same as the carbon but isn't carbon...
Both bikes are slightly different - different lengths of travel so they aren't entirely pitched at the same kind of riding (although realistically you can ride the same stuff on either bike!).
So really the question is more, do I go for the bandit or spunk a huge amount of extra cash on the plastic variant of a very nice bike?
Personally, I'd go for the alloy Pivot.
wish people would say why they've already narrowed it to whichever 2 we're supposed to decide between - is it the dealer? the colours? something you read in a magazine? you've tried one or both? **** knows.
I'll see your Imbruglie & raise you a Mary McGregor...
Torn between two lovers
Feeling like a fool
Loving both of you
Is breaking all the rules.
Classic.
Did somebody mention Natalie Imbruglia? She was better loooking than a Pivot or a Transition...

whaddaya mean was?
She can't have gone downhill that quickly?
ps. I'd go for the Transition cos I couldn't live with a bike with Pivot written on it. What a rubbish name.
@ OP try asking like this:
I'm this height and weight. I ride these places with this much gnarr (i'm racing?) I've tried these bikes, liked this because of something, but i've ruled out these alternatives because of that problem. I couldn't ride a bike this colour or made by that company. I want a 26er/29er. I prefer to buy in this town or online, UK or import. I would consider doing my own build or not.
cheers! frustrating not being able to help because we don't have the info.

Didn't she get it on with Prince Harry? Might have something to do with it...
she looks bloody skinny up ^ there
... and isn't there a posh word for androgynous, big-eyed childlike prettiness ?

I'm Chris, 6 ft dead, 101kg (but not fat lol) I ride a lot of welsh trail centres and looking to go north of the border in the new year, but at the same time ride Sherwood pines most weeks. I have ruled out the orange 5 because it's too common for me, not a fan of trek, spech, cannondale, not sure , about an unknown (to me) like Titus, and the mega is getting a little common for me. I have read really good reviews of the pivot and transitions. I want something quite natural as in goes up as well as down. Like the idea of the dw link and I am a carbon whore lol but it's not the be all and end all. I want to stick to 26. Also I love lary colours like the green the bandit comes in. Don't want to do my own build because I don't have the tools or know enough.
Thanks for the helpful post it genuinely helped
also get a go on a giant - trance-x probably ?
(edit to prev post: neoteny, BTW)
I have a transition and I love it FWIW. A covert and not a Bandit though.
I have a transition bandit. It is enough bike for me riding in the Peak District. It is more capable than I am and I would happily take it abroad to ride in the mountains (which I will do one day). It has replaced an Orange 5 (2006 model, so quite steep) and Trek Fuel EX 9.8 (didn't like the skitterishness on loose rocks). You don't need carbon, but if you want it, best go for it, as you will probably always wonder.....
Only down side for the bandit in my opinion is it's quite difficult to shoulder if you are hike a biking. This one is definitely a keeper! 😀
is that difficult to sholder due to weight or shape?
She can't have gone downhill that quickly?
Looked like she'd been on a botox frenzy and lost too much weight, but I don't know how quick she is is downhill. Do you know if she owns a Pivot or a Transition btw?
