What tools would people recommend??? I'm looking at either x-tools set or lifeline but having never owned either I was wondering what other people had found to be any good???

I built my tool kit up over the years and bought them as I needed them. A friend of mine bought the X tools kit and it pretty much has everything that a home tinkerer would need. Not the quality of Park Tools but he hasn't worn anything out or boken anything yet. Good pricing too.

this looks like a good starter set, not much different from all the others in similar packaging although maybe more spanners than you'd need and only £30;

Check the tool kit is up to date and correct for your bike. I have one of those from a while back which still had tools for a cup and cone BB and a threaded headset.

Got quite a bit of x-tools gear over here - always seems to do the job right.

Allen keys - I spend good money on some quality ones though. Can't remember the brand.

x-tools -> bike stand, headset cup remover, BB spanner, chain cleaner, etc
