mates after a tool kit for about 50-60 quid. Are there any about that will do mostly any jobs, im not talking expert things, but all the tools to install a new cassette, replace BB and the likes?? A sort of starter kit, but at least enough tools to do the 2 things above minimum?
cheers!
The x-tools one has the stuff you want for a modern bike. People will arrive soon to tell you that they're made of cheese, buy Park etc. but I have a very similar kit and it's fine.
I've always just bought tools as and when I needed them. I bought high quality ones. That way, I spread out the cost of buying good ones over many years, and now have a fairly comprehensive set of high quality tools.
You could always lend some to your mate?
cheers guys, i dont have tools either to lend him or i gladly would, cant see the ice toolz or x tools ones in stock cheaper anywhere though...anymore different branded ones like this anywhere?
Some X-tools stuff is great value some not - The really expensive Park Tools kit I don't but and get the X-Tools stuff i.e. headset press etc but Tools less than £20 I usually but Park Tools.
If you want to but a full kit up front (not necc in my view) then try the Merlin deal?

However a chain whip, BB tool, lock ring tool etc are NOT in it!!
The Ice Tools kit is pretty good value for money and if you break things you can replace them with better ones bit by bit?

yeah cheers foxy, thinking the icetoolz one looks better for him, it has all the bits and bobs for cassettes and BB's etc, anything more technical and i think it would be a shop job anyways....
the ice toolz one seems to be out of stock everywhere, for a cheaper price...will try email ukstore see if its coming in stock....
Have found the £20 tool kit is not bad from Lidl Some tools have died, the ones you want haven;t Includes a Shimano bottom bracket tool and a Shimano Cassette Tool as well, which was used to fit a Shimano Megarange Cassette on my Land rover mtb recently
